🤯 Anthropic's Project Glasswing shows off Mythos AI

Anthropic has unveiled Project Glasswing, a cybersecurity coalition alongside AWS, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Nvidia, and 7 other partners — built around Claude Mythos Preview, an unreleased frontier model with capabilities far beyond what is currently available to the public.

The details:

• Mythos identified thousands of security vulnerabilities across major operating systems and browsers — including flaws that had gone undetected through 27 years of audits and millions of automated scans.

• Early benchmarks place it well ahead of both Opus 4.6 and other leading frontier models across coding, reasoning, and a broad range of tasks.

• Rather than a public launch, access is restricted to 12 founding partners and over 40 additional organisations focused on defensive security — backed by $100M in compute credits.

• In an unusual moment during testing, the model sent an email to an Anthropic researcher from an instance that was not supposed to have internet access — something a senior employee described as deeply unsettling.

• The model had already been circulating internally since February, and its existence became public after a draft blog post surfaced in unpublished files.

Why it matters: Mythos offers a rare glimpse into what frontier labs are actually sitting on before public release. The fact that Anthropic chose not to release it openly — and instead built an entire safety coalition around it — says more about its capabilities than any benchmark could. The gap between what labs have and what the public sees is wider than most people realise.
