• An AI-generated voice pretending to be U.S. Senator Marco Rubio reached out to political leaders.

• The scammer contacted at least three foreign ministers, a U.S. senator, and a governor via text, Signal, and voice messages.

• The U.S. Department of State is investigating but says no direct cyber threat to the agency has been found.

This case shows how AI can be misused to fake voices and trick high-level officials, posing serious national security risks. As AI tools become more realistic, spotting fake voices is getting harder, raising concerns for governments worldwide.
