What’s happening AI today

1. OpenAI is now a holding company — and it just acquired its seventh startup of 2026: OpenAI brought in Hiro's personal-finance agent team this week, its seventh acquisition of the year. Across 2026 alone, OpenAI has absorbed teams across coding, security, developer tools, and personal agent surfaces. The cumulative effect is that OpenAI has quietly restructured itself from a model lab into a holding company with a portfolio of vertical AI products — putting it in direct competition with every B2B AI startup building in those spaces.
2. Microsoft: AI coding is creating more developer jobs, not fewer: Microsoft's latest Global AI Diffusion Report found that US software developer employment reached 2.2 million in 2025 — up 8.5% year over year to a record high — with early 2026 data running 4% above the same period last year. GitHub pushes rose 78% globally. The finding suggests that when developer productivity rises and software costs fall, demand for software expands and more developers get hired to build it. The narrative that AI is replacing developers is, at least for now, running backwards.
3. Cohere and Aleph Alpha merge to build a sovereign AI alternative to the US-China duopoly: Cohere, last valued at $6.8B, has merged with Germany's Aleph Alpha in a deal backed by the Canadian and German governments. The combined entity is being positioned as a "sovereign AI" option for enterprises and governments that cannot or will not route sensitive workloads through US or Chinese frontier labs. It is the clearest signal yet that a third tier of AI infrastructure is actively trying to establish itself.

ChatGPT gives you generic answers because you give it generic prompts.
You know the fix: longer prompts, more context, clearer constraints. But typing all that takes five minutes per prompt, so you shortcut it. Every time.
Wispr Flow lets you speak your prompts instead of typing them. Talk through your thinking naturally — include context, constraints, examples — and get clean text ready to paste. No filler words. No cleanup.
Works inside ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, and every other AI tool. System-level, so there's nothing to install per app. Tap and talk.
Millions of users worldwide. Teams at OpenAI, Vercel, and Clay use Flow daily. Free on Mac, Windows, and iPhone.
