Google brings new AI powers to Chrome with Gemini built in

Google has announced a set of new AI features coming to the Chrome browser, all powered by Gemini. These updates aim to help users browse faster, get answers easier, and complete tasks inside the browser.

  • Auto Browse can control Chrome in its own tab, click through websites, finish tasks, and pause before sensitive actions like payments

  • Gemini sidebar stays open while you browse, letting you ask questions, compare products across tabs, and connect with Gmail and Calendar

  • Image creation is now built into Chrome with Nano Banana, with Personal Intelligence coming soon for more tailored answers

This move strengthens Chrome’s position as the top browser while answering rising competition from AI-first browsers. By adding Gemini directly into a tool people already use every day, Google makes AI easier to adopt and harder to ignore.

Google Opens New DNA AI Tool

Google opens AlphaGenome to help spot how DNA changes cause disease.

Google DeepMind has shared the full paper and model weights for AlphaGenome, an AI tool that reads huge DNA sections and predicts how mutations lead to disease. The tool is now open for research use.

  • AlphaGenome was first shown last summer, and the full paper is now published in Nature, with free access to the model.

  • It can scan one million DNA letters and see how a single change affects 11 key biological processes.

  • In tests, it found links to leukemia from DNA changes far from the gene, links that took humans years to find.

This opens a new door in genetics. After AlphaFold changed how we see proteins, this work aims to explain the 98% of DNA we still do not understand. Giving scientists open tools like this could speed up disease research and future medical breakthroughs.
