Meta AI Reads Minds Watching Movies

Meta’s AI team has unveiled TRIBE, a powerful 1-billion-parameter model that can predict human brain activity while watching movies, earning first place in the Algonauts 2025 brain modeling competition.

  • TRIBE analyzes video, audio, and text to predict which brain regions activate, without any brain scans.

  • It matched over 50% of brain activity patterns across 1,000 regions after training on 80 hours of viewing data.

  • Outperforms single-sense models by 30%, especially in areas tied to attention, decision-making, and emotion.

This is a big leap in understanding how our brains process complex media. While it could help neuroscience research, it also raises questions about how such tech might be used to shape, or even manipulate, our attention and emotions.

Learn from this investor’s $100m mistake

In 2010, a Grammy-winning artist passed on investing $200K in an emerging real estate disruptor. That stake could be worth $100+ million today.

One year later, another real estate disruptor, Zillow, went public. This time, everyday investors had regrets, missing pre-IPO gains.

Now, a new real estate innovator, Pacaso – founded by a former Zillow exec – is disrupting a $1.3T market. And unlike the others, you can invest in Pacaso as a private company.

Pacaso’s co-ownership model has generated $1B+ in luxury home sales and service fees, earned $110M+ in gross profits to date, and received backing from the same VCs behind Uber, Venmo, and eBay. They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.

Paid advertisement for Pacaso’s Regulation A offering. Read the offering circular at invest.pacaso.com. Reserving a ticker symbol is not a guarantee that the company will go public. Listing on the NASDAQ is subject to approvals.

New Chatbot Memory

Anthropic has introduced a new memory feature for its Claude chatbot, letting users recall and review past conversations when needed.

The feature is now available for Max, Team, and Enterprise plans across web, desktop, and mobile, and will roll out to more plans soon.

  • Selective memory: Claude only searches and recalls chats if the user explicitly requests it, unlike ChatGPT or Google’s Gemini, which store conversations automatically.

  • Cross-project continuity: Helps users resume projects, revisit meeting details, and keep different workspaces organized without starting from scratch.

  • Privacy-first approach: Users can enable or disable the feature anytime via settings, ensuring greater control over personal data.

This feature balances productivity and privacy in AI assistants. As memory-enabled chatbots become more common, and competition between Anthropic and OpenAI heats up, Claude’s on-demand recall approach offers an alternative for those who want the benefits of memory without continuous tracking.

Altman Says AGI is Old News

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, says the term “Artificial General Intelligence” (AGI) is losing its importance due to the rapid pace of AI progress, making it harder to define than before.

  • AGI usually refers to AI that can do any intellectual task a human can.

  • Altman believes the fast evolution of AI means we may need a new definition for AGI.

  • He says the focus should be on the exponential growth of AI abilities, not on fixed labels.

As AI develops faster than expected, old terms like AGI may no longer capture what’s happening. This shift could change how companies, researchers, and policymakers set goals, make investments, and measure AI progress in the future.
