Meta Confirms Using User Posts for AI Training Since 2007
Meta has been using all user posts on Facebook and Instagram globally to train its AI, unless users manually opted out.
Australian users cannot opt out of this AI training program, unlike users in the EU and UK.
Meta does not use data from users under 18 for AI training, but still collects data from their parents' accounts.
This revelation highlights potential privacy concerns and differences in regulations across regions, raising questions about user consent and data protection in AI development.

Adobe AI Video Tools Go Public Soon
Adobe announced that users will soon be able to try out the company's AI model for video production.
The company says its AI video production features will be available in beta mode on Premiere Pro and the Firefly website before the end of 2024.
Adobe mentions that three AI features—Text to Video, Generative Extend, and Image to Video are currently in private beta but will be publicly available soon.
Generative Extend, which allows you to increase the length of any video by two seconds, will be included in Premiere Pro's beta program by late 2024.
The Text to Video and Image to Video features, which create five-second videos from text or image prompts, will be available on the dedicated Firefly website later this year.
Adobe's AI tools for video production will enable users to create video clips using text descriptions and adjust the output with various "Camera controls" including angle, movement, and distance.
Adobe also claims that Firefly's Text to Video feature is very good at recognizing correct spellings, a common challenge for video generation models.
Additionally, with the Image to Video feature, you can create videos using a reference image. It seems the quality of these tools matches that of videos generated by the Sora model. However, these tools currently only allow you to create clips up to five seconds long.
One advantage Adobe's model may have over Sora is that, since Firefly is trained on licensed content, using this AI should be safer and may alleviate some concerns about copyright infringement.
