Microsoft gives Copilot a friendly face with the launch of ‘Mico’, a colorful animated avatar.

Microsoft’s Fall Release event revealed Mico, an animated blob avatar for Copilot, along with new personalization, health, and browser updates. The company is adding more human touches and teamwork tools to its AI assistant.

• Mico changes color based on tone and can turn into Clippy as a fun Easter egg.

• Copilot adds Memory, Personalization, and Proactive Actions for smarter help.

• Health tools and new Edge features like Actions and Journeys make Copilot more useful every day.

How to track ship location

OpenAI Buys Sky

OpenAI buys Sky, a Mac automation startup, to boost ChatGPT’s desktop powers.

OpenAI has acquired Software Applications Incorporated, the company behind Sky, an unreleased Mac automation tool. The Sky team is known for creating Workflow, which Apple turned into Shortcuts after buying it in 2017.

• Sky works as a floating AI assistant on Mac, analyzing the screen and handling tasks between apps.

• OpenAI plans to merge Sky’s macOS features into ChatGPT, making it able to control desktop apps and automate actions.

• The deal follows OpenAI’s Atlas browser launch and adds to its string of recent talent acquisitions.

This move shows OpenAI’s push to become the main AI layer for Mac users, strengthening its tools before Apple’s own AI plans are fully revealed.
