OpenAI launched a majority-owned standalone consulting subsidiary backed by over $4 billion, internally called DeployCo — a dedicated business built to embed OpenAI tools inside enterprise clients, separate from its core model and research organisation.
The details:
DeployCo is structured as a professional services entity — closer to Accenture or Deloitte in its operating model than to a SaaS company.
The move positions OpenAI to compete directly with the same consulting firms that are simultaneously deploying Anthropic's Claude — a collision course that will define enterprise AI sales for the next five years.
OpenAI is also filing its S-1 this month, targeting a September IPO at $852B–$1T. DeployCo is expected to be a major revenue contributor in the prospectus.
Why it matters: OpenAI is no longer just a model company. It is building the sales, implementation, and change management layer that enterprises need to actually use AI — and doing it in-house rather than through partners. That is a direct threat to every consulting firm currently making money deploying OpenAI's own technology.
Your move this week
List every AI tool embedded in your team's core workflow. For each one, answer honestly: if this vendor raised prices 3x next quarter, what would we actually do? If the answer is "probably pay it," you are already inside a moat. That is either a position of strength or a vulnerability — the only thing that determines which is whether you chose it on purpose. What‘s Happening AI Today

1. Canada rules OpenAI violated privacy law: Canada's Office of the Privacy Commissioner found that OpenAI collected and used personal data without proper consent — the first major national privacy ruling against OpenAI. The decision opens the door to similar actions in the EU, UK, and Australia, and arrives just as OpenAI is preparing its S-1 filing. Regulatory exposure is now a line item in its IPO risk factors.
2. ChatGPT voice mode controversy — weaker model, same price: Developers discovered that ChatGPT's voice mode is running on a significantly less capable model than the text interface — without disclosure. The backlash was immediate. OpenAI has not yet responded publicly. The incident lands at a sensitive moment for a company preparing to go public on the strength of its premium product positioning.
3. Claude Code ships detailed usage analytics: Anthropic released its most comprehensive Claude Code usage dashboard yet — showing token consumption by file, session, and task type. For teams hitting rate limits, this is immediately useful. For Anthropic, it is a signal that it is treating Claude Code as a long-term developer platform rather than a feature experiment.

Map your AI vendor risk in 10 minutes
Prompt: You are a technology risk advisor who helps companies understand their exposure to vendor concentration before it becomes a problem. I want to map our AI vendor risk clearly enough to brief my leadership team.
Here are the AI tools and platforms we currently use: [list your tools, who uses them, and what they are used for].
For each vendor, assess three things:
1. Switching cost — If this vendor doubled their price or shut down tomorrow, how hard would it be to replace them? Rate 1-5 and explain why.
2. Data exposure — What data do we send to this vendor? Is any of it sensitive, proprietary, or regulated? What happens to it under their terms of service?
3. Strategic dependency — Are we building products or workflows that would be fundamentally broken if this vendor changed their API, pricing, or terms? How deeply is their technology embedded in what we ship?
Then give me a one-page risk summary I can share with my team — with a traffic light rating for each vendor (green / amber / red) and the single most important action we should take for each amber or red rating.
Be direct. I would rather know our vulnerabilities now than discover them when a vendor changes terms.AI news highlights
