OpenAI Wants Out of Old Deal

OpenAI and Microsoft are renegotiating their partnership, with OpenAI aiming to cut Microsoft's revenue share, while Microsoft wants long-term access to OpenAI's technology.

  • Microsoft has invested over $13 billion in OpenAI and is resisting OpenAI’s plan to become a public benefit corporation (PBC).

  • OpenAI wants to lower Microsoft’s share of revenue from 20% to 10% by 2030, when it expects to make $174 billion.

  • The two companies are also clashing over tech access and enterprise customers, as OpenAI seeks deals with other partners.

This could reshape one of the most important partnerships in AI. OpenAI’s growth plans depend on a smoother deal with Microsoft. At the same time, Microsoft wants to protect its long-term access to powerful AI tools. A new agreement could revive their billion-dollar relationship.

The New Way Students Cheat with AI

Many U.S. students are tricking AI detectors by adding spelling mistakes to chatbot-generated essays.

Reports show a growing trend in universities where students use smart cheating methods instead of real effort. Professors are worried that students are focusing more on beating the system than on learning.

  • In some cases, the students intentionally add typos to AI-generated texts in order to make them look more human-written.

  • In some cases, students purposely tell AI to write essays in a simple or weak style just to avoid being detected.

  • They would generate essays, for example, from ChatGPT, and then a series of other AIs reprocess those to make it harder to be detected.

This trend displays how students are abusing AI. It raises very serious concerns for the future of education, of degrees, and whether students are going to gain the skills.
