Standard Intelligence unveils FDM-1, a powerful AI that learns to use computers by watching video, and it can already design, debug, and even drive a real car.

Standard Intelligence has launched FDM-1, a new “computer action” model trained by watching millions of hours of screen recordings. Instead of learning from text, it learns by studying how people move, click, type, and work on a computer.

  • Massive training data: FDM-1 was trained on 11 million hours of screen footage. That is about 550,000 times larger than the biggest open dataset before it.

  • Long attention span: The model can follow almost two hours of screen activity at once. It handles about 50 times more visual information than older models.

  • Real world demos: FDM-1 has built gears in Blender, fixed code issues, and even driven a real car using arrow keys and live data, with less than an hour of driving training.

Language models learned how we write by reading the internet. Now FDM-1 is trying to learn how we work and use computers by watching the internet’s videos.
